RepairAmigo: repair shop management software that runs on your own computer
RepairAmigo is repair shop management software for cell phone, computer and console repair. It was built inside a busy repair shop to keep drop-off to pick-up, every price, every part and every dollar in one place, running on your own shop network.
Built at a real repair counter
Many repair shops run on spreadsheets, sticky notes and guesswork. RepairAmigo was created because, in the words of its team, nothing on the market fit how a real repair shop works, and every feature exists because it was needed at their own counter. The system has processed more than 50,000 real-life repair tickets over 14 years, and it brings 12+ modules together in one system: intake, pricing, the repair workflow, inventory, cash management, users and roles, customer notifications, warranty, and reports with a point of sale.
The goal is speed and consistency at the front counter. It takes 3 clicks to go from intake to a printed receipt, parts are deducted automatically as repairs are saved, and customers can receive real-time text updates about their devices.
Where it runs
RepairAmigo runs on your computer (Windows PCs and Intel Macs). It runs as a VM inside the free VirtualBox software on a computer in your shop. Once it is started, you open RepairAmigo in a web browser on any computer, tablet or phone connected to the same shop network.
- Windows PCs: a Windows installer for Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) installs VirtualBox if needed, downloads the RepairAmigo VM in your language, sets it up and starts it, then opens RepairAmigo in your browser.
- Intel Macs: a separate installer for Intel Macs installs the matching VirtualBox version, downloads the VM, sets up bridged networking and starts it.
- Linux: RepairAmigo also runs on a 64-bit x86 Linux PC with VirtualBox. There is no Linux installer; you install VirtualBox yourself and import the OVA file from the download page.
The VM needs 4 GB of memory, and the setup guide recommends 2 CPUs for it. The VM can be downloaded in English, Spanish, Portuguese or Hindi.
Your shop, your server, your data
Because RepairAmigo is self-hosted, your repair, customer and inventory records are stored on your own computer, with no cloud lock-in. It stays on your shop network, so there are no ports to open on your router. The VM is a locked-down Linux system, built to keep common Windows viruses and ransomware out, and remote support stays off until you click Allow. To move to another computer, you back up the entire VM and run it there as easily as you installed it.
Pricing in plain terms
RepairAmigo starts with a 30-day free trial. After that, there is an optional paid version for a one-time payment, currently US $99, made inside the app by the shop owner. It is a one-time payment for that installation, for one shop's own use, with no subscription. The paid version has the same shop features, and paid versions are eligible for new version upgrades. Full details are on the RepairAmigo website.
Getting started
- Set it up yourself. Download the installer or the VM and run it with VirtualBox on a computer in your shop.
- Open it on your local network. Open RepairAmigo in a browser on any device in the shop, then add your devices, prices and staff once.
- Check in your first device. Intake, quote and receipt take under a minute, while inventory, cash and reports keep the business honest.
One note for card payments: RepairAmigo does not process credit cards, but it does not stop you from using a card processing service. You can record the transaction ID in the notes of each receipt.
